87 Years of Distance Education
With 87 years of experience, the University of Nebraska High School (UNHS) is an expert in delivering high-quality high school education to students and schools around the world. Established by the University of Nebraska in 1929, our first courses were paper-based, correspondence study. We now serve students online in all 50 U.S. states and more than 100 countries.
Online Since 2001
UNHS was the first distance education high school in the U.S. to receive regional accreditation, which it continuously maintains through AdvancED and the Nebraska Department of Education. In 1968 UNHS awarded its first diploma to a student in West Germany, and in 2001 the school moved online to provide better access to students.
With decades of experience, we understand how to best design online courses for student success. The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) has honored UNHS with two International Distance Learning Awards in K-12 Best Practices and Distance Learning Programming. UNHS has also earned nine awards from the University Professional & Continuing Education Association. The awards recognize new and innovative distance courses.
