Nearly 270 students representing more than 30 countries and close to 30 U.S. states will graduate as part of the University of Nebraska High School (UNHS) Class of 2025 on Friday, July 18, 2025.
This year’s graduates reflect a diverse range of passions and ambitions. They’ve expressed future plans in fields such as aviation, neurosurgery, economics, teaching, engineering, professional athletics, film studies, welding, entrepreneurship, and more. Collectively, this year’s class has impressively indicated plans to attend nearly 140 post-secondary institutions worldwide after graduating from UNHS.
The graduation ceremony begins at 2:00 p.m. Central Time in the Great Plains Room at the Nebraska East Union on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s east campus. The event will be live streamed and recorded for families and supporters worldwide (visit our graduation webpage on July 18 to view the livestream link). Almost 25 graduates and more than 200 guests from around the world are expected to attend the ceremony in person.
Commencement will include the awarding of diplomas by UNHS Director, Dr. Barbara Wolf Shousha, and UNHS Principal, Dr. Jeff Stoehr. The commencement address to graduates will be given by Matt Mason, a renowned American Poet and Executive Director of the Nebraska Writers Collective. Mr. Mason was also selected to serve as the Nebraska State Poet from 2019-2024. Graduates and guests will also enjoy a special video address from University of Nebraska President, Dr. Jeffrey P. Gold.
Graduates in attendance will also be given the opportunity to approach the podium and give a brief personal statement to the audience. Past graduates have expressed gratitude toward those who have supported them or shared advice or a memory about their experiences with UNHS.
To celebrate the Class of 2025, UNHS has also created special graduate and staff expressions videos that will be shown on screen during the ceremony and available on the UNHS website, starting July 18, for students, families, and supporters to view.
Congratulations and best wishes to the University of Nebraska High School Class of 2025!
