More than 250 students representing nearly 40 countries and 30 U.S. states will graduate in the class of 2024 from the University of Nebraska High School (UNHS) on Friday, July 19, 2024. The 2024 graduating class has expressed more than 40 different career field interests, including teaching, medicine, broadcast journalism, archaeology, financial services, professional sports, performing arts, wildlife and environmental protection, and entering the military. Similarly, this year’s class has collectively indicated plans to attend nearly 120 colleges and universities worldwide after graduating from UNHS.
The graduation ceremony begins at 2:00 p.m. in the Great Plains Room in the Nebraska East Union on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s east campus. The event will be live-streamed and recorded. Please visit the UNHS graduation page on July 19 to view the live stream link. At least 20 graduates are expected to attend the ceremony in person.
Commencement exercises will consist of the awarding of diplomas by the director of UNHS, Dr. Barbara Wolf Shousha and the principal of UNHS, Dr. Jeff Stoehr. The commencement address to graduates will be given by Dr. Gwyneth Talley, Associate Professor of Anthropology at The American University in Cairo. Dr. Talley is also a 2008 UNHS graduate and a 2013 UNL graduate.
Graduates in attendance will also be given the opportunity to speak at the podium and give a brief personal statement, such as expressing gratitude toward those who have supported them or sharing advice or a memory about their experiences with UNHS.
UNHS has also created a graduate roll call video and a graduate and staff expressions video for students, families, and supporters to watch. These videos will be available July 19 on the UNHS graduation page.
Congratulations and best wishes to the University of Nebraska High School class of 2024!
