Saving and submitting your assignments online

WayCool allows you to submit evaluations, projects, and progress tests electronically and, in some instances, receive immediate grading on your work. To submit work, follow these steps:

  1. From the WayCool home page, click on "My Work" next to the course you wish to submit work for. You may also click on the "My Work" button on the top toolbar if you are in your online course or "My Grades."
  2. In the "Status" column, you will see either "Graded" for work that has been graded, "Grade Pending" for work that you have submitted but has not been evaluated by your teacher, or "Start" for work that you have yet to submit for grading.
  3. Click on "Start" to begin working on your assignment. NOTE: Assignments that have "Graded" or "Grade Pending" have already been submitted and you may not re-submit these assignments. You will not be able to access these assignments from the "My Work" section.
  4. For evaluations and projects, you may submit the work online unsupervised. For progress tests, you must have your proctor present. Your proctor must fill in the "Proctor Code" at the bottom of the page before submitting.
  5. If any of your work needs to be mailed in (such as a sculpture you have opted to do) you must download and complete a lesson wrapper to be mailed in with your project. Lesson wrappers can be found in the "Forms" section of WayCool. NOTE: This is true ONLY for assignments that cannot be submitted online. Students who have opted to pay the "mail processing fee" may submit all or any of their assignments via mail OR may choose to submit assignments online via WayCool.

MORE ON MAIL SUBMISSION:
At the time you enrolled in your course, you designated whether you would submit your work online or by mail. Mail submission is available only for print courses. You may not submit lesson via mail for online courses.

If you chose to submit your work online, you may not submit assignments via mail except those that cannot be submitted online, such as some language and math assignments or sculptures, collages and other dimensional projects.

If you chose the mail submission option at the time of enrollment, you may choose to submit any of your work either online or by mail. Remember to complete a lesson wrapper (available in the "Forms" section) if you choose to submit your work by mail.

  2. You will need to enter your username and password again in order for verification.
  3. You will see a listing of all assessments for your course. In the right hand column (called "Grade"), you will see your grade for each assessment. Click on the letter grade in order to view feedback for that assessment.
  4. Remember, in order to view details regarding grades on progress tests, you must see your proctor.

Accessing forms

You may download the following forms from WayCool: lesson wrappers, Change of Status and Personal Data Sheets (PDS).

Lesson Wrappers. Use lesson wrappers when you need to mail in an assessment via regular mail. Only if you opted to pay the "mail processing fee" at the time you enrolled should you mail assessments into the high school UNLESS the assessment you wish to submit cannot be submitted online (i.e., a sculpture, art project) as noted in the course content.

Change of Status. Fill out a Change of Status form if you need to update your mailing address or name or your proctor's name or address. It is essential that we have the most current information for both you and your proctor on file so that there is no delay in processing your assessments.

Personal Data Sheets. Personal Data Sheets are useful for members of the high school staff to get to know you. They are not required as part of your enrollment. The high school uses Personal Data Sheets to gather information about students and their reasons for enrolling in courses from the University of Nebraska High School. Oftentimes, the high school newsletter will highlight students from around the globe; these stories are often gleaned from information in a student's PDS.
